Background to the Community Guidelines

The litter-picking SNS "Pirika" (hereinafter "SNS Pirika") was created to prevent litter from entering the natural environment and to encourage enjoyable litter-picking activities.
To ensure that all users can take part in litter-picking safely and enjoyably, we have established these Guidelines and operate SNS Pirika in accordance with them.

Guide for Litter-Picking Activities

(1) Safe Litter Picking

To prevent injuries or infection while picking up litter, we recommend the following:

• Use work gloves or tongs when picking up litter.
• Wash your hands after litter-picking.
• Do not forcibly pick up syringes, sharp objects, or anything that may have drugs on it. (You may be able to have your local municipality handle these — please contact them.)

(2) Litter Picking by the Rules

To avoid trouble during litter-picking, please follow rules such as the examples below:

• Do not enter private property without permission.
• Do not destroy objects or property.
• Do not operate your smartphone while walking, so as to avoid collisions with vehicles or other pedestrians.

Guide for Using SNS Pirika

(1) Creating a Safe and Welcoming Community

SNS Pirika is a service designed for recording daily litter-picking activities and enjoying communication through litter-picking. We place importance on sharing activity records, clean-up reports, and positive environmental information.

To protect a community where everyone can feel safe, please refrain from posting content that falls under the prohibited actions listed below. If you wish to record information or share opinions, please also consider using other platforms as appropriate.

Before posting, please check the following:

• "Is this something I would want to share with fellow litter-pickers?" "Could this make readers uncomfortable?"
• Is this content appropriate for children to see or imitate? (SNS Pirika is used by people of all ages.)

(2) Posting to SNS Pirika

We hope that SNS Pirika will provide accurate information useful for research and solutions to environmental issues.
We also aim to reduce the amount of litter flowing into the natural world.
With that in mind, we kindly ask for your cooperation with the following:

• Please post about your litter-picking activities. We warmly welcome heartwarming photos and comments alongside your litter-picking photos.
• Please post photos that show the full extent of the litter collected, and where possible, accurately enter the number or volume of items collected, the date and time of activity, the number of participants, and the activity location (to the extent you are comfortable sharing).
• Please be careful not to post the same litter-picking activity from multiple accounts, creating duplicate records.
• Please do not include litter that has been gathered into bags at collection points, or litter inside bins, in the "litter" you post to SNS Pirika, as such litter is already scheduled for proper disposal.
• Please do not include natural materials such as twigs, leaves, or stones in the amount of "litter" you report on SNS Pirika.
• Please actively use hashtags to register company names, brand names, and product names, helping with surveys on the actual state of littered waste.

(3) How to Use SNS Pirika

For detailed instructions on how to use SNS Pirika, please visit this page. In particular, please note the following:

• Posts on SNS Pirika are made public. Please be careful not to disclose personal information unnecessarily.
• When posting with location services turned on, please be aware that your home location may be inferred.
  Consider turning off location services when appropriate, or registering a different location within the same municipality.
• If minors are using the service, please discuss the usage with a guardian before doing so.
• To help everyone enjoy interactions between users, we recommend consolidating each activity into a single post.
• Please do not post the personal information (such as faces or addresses) of other individuals without their permission. When posting photos of litter you have collected, please check that no bystanders' faces are visible. Also, please refrain from posting photos or information that could identify specific individuals for the purpose of criticism, condemnation, or exposure.
• For organizing or managing clean-up events, please use the Event feature.
• Please send any feedback or requests to us via the "Feedback & Requests" function in SNS Pirika.

(4) How to Handle Inappropriate Posts

If you find an account, post, group, or event that is inappropriate or violates the rules, please take the following steps:

• To prevent conflict, please refrain from directly pointing out or warning other users through comments or posts.
• You can use the "Report" function within SNS Pirika to notify us of any inappropriate or rule-violating posts (reporting is not mandatory).
• When a report is submitted, all reported content will immediately and temporarily be hidden from SNS Pirika while we review it and determine whether to delete it or take other action.
• Please note that if you submit a report, your information as the reporter will not be shared with the reported user or other users.

(5) Prohibited Activities

SNS Pirika is a community for recording and supporting litter-picking activities. It is not a platform for broadcasting social issues or personal opinions; we value positive interaction through the sharing of activities.

To ensure a comfortable experience for all users, the following types of posts are prohibited:

1. Attacks or Defamation Against Others
   • Defamatory, aggressive, or discriminatory language or imagery targeting other users, people who litter, or specific individuals or organizations.
   • Posts containing obscene expressions (images or text).
   • Posts containing child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE).
2. Off-Topic Content
   • Topics unrelated to litter-picking or environmental activities (e.g., sports match impressions or team complaints).
   • Posts calling for support or opposition toward a specific political party, candidate, religion, or ideology.
3. Psychologically Distressing Content
   • Content relating to incidents, accidents, crimes, sexual abuse, suicide, abuse, or other content that places a significant psychological burden on viewers.

   ※ Even if intended as a warning, such content may cause distress to those who have had similar experiences.

4. Solicitation or Commercial Purposes
   • Text, URLs, or hashtags for commercial, political, or religious solicitation.
   • Posts containing expressions (images or text) recruiting for religious activities or religious organizations.
5. Other
   • Posts containing antisocial content.
   • Posts containing personal information.
   • Posts aimed at identifying an individual, organization, or business and condemning or exposing their actions.
   • Posts that infringe the intellectual property rights of third parties.
   • Posts that violate laws or regulations.
   • Posts that interfere with our operations.
   • Posts similar to any of the above.
   • Posts that we reasonably determine to be inappropriate.

(6) Account Suspension Procedures and Criteria

If prohibited activities are confirmed, the following steps will be taken:

① FirstWarning Upon confirming a prohibited act, the first step is to issue a warning.

② RecurrenceFinal Notice If the same behavior is observed after the warning, a final notice will be issued.

③ SuspensionAccount Suspended If the same behavior continues after the final notice, the account will be suspended.

Note: Depending on the severity of the violation, we may directly suspend the account or delete the post without following the above steps.

(7) Our Response to Prohibited Activities

We may delete accounts, posts, groups, or events that fall under any of the following categories:

1. Cases where the posted image and the inputted amount of litter are significantly inconsistent.
2. Cases where the amount of litter and the number of participants are markedly different.
3. Cases where records that are significantly different from actual activities are continuously posted due to intentional or grossly negligent behavior.
4. Cases that violate laws or regulations.
5. Cases that violate our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or Community Guidelines.
6. Posts using images that are not of actual litter-picking activities, or posts containing false information.
7. Other posts that we reasonably determine to be inappropriate in light of the purpose of these Guidelines.
